A licensed Real Estate Broker since 1980, Julie is a native Wilmingtonian. Having grown up in the Historic District of Wilmington, she cares passionately about this splendid place to live. She still owns the DuBois-Boatwright House (ca. 1767) where her father was born. She laughingly says that was before it was “Historic”!
From a young age Julie worked in her mother’s ladies clothing shop, La Mode. This early retail experience taught her excellent customer service and follow-through. Julie graduated from St. Mary’s Jr. College. She received a BA in Education from UNC at Chapel Hill where she joined Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She taught in the public schools. It is her personal goal to facilitate real estate transactions for educators and their families.
Julie has contributed time and care to the community. Julie was appointed to the Mayor’s Task Force on City Core Revitalization. This became Downtown Area Revitalization Effort, Incorporated (DARE, Inc.) where she served on the Executive Board. She was a member of the original Riverfest Committee. Julie served on the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee. She was a charter member of the Friends of the New Hanover County Public Library. As a Junior League member, she helped start the Child Advocacy Commission. Julie is a Life Member of the Colonial Dames in the State of North Carolina. She was active with the Big Buddy Program through United Way. Julie served on the Thalian Hall Commission and the Board of Directors of Opera House Theater Company for its inaugural season. She served on the Historic District Commission and is currently a member of the Historic Wilmington Foundation. Julie is a life-long communicant at St. James Parish and recently married her childhood playmate Robert Pettee on the church lawn.
Julie has experience in real estate advertising and in mortgage brokerage. Julie attended the REALTOR® Institute in Chapel Hill and received the GRI® designation. She has contributed to her profession by serving on various committees of the Wilmington Board of REALTORS® including the Professional Standards Committee. Julie was named Agent of the Year for the Wilmington Association of REALTORS® in 1984.
